Planning the trip
Rovaniemi’s aurora viewing season generally runs from late August into early April. Both clear skies and geomagnetic activity matter, and sightings cannot be guaranteed. Staying several nights offers more opportunities to watch.
February and March bring more daylight for winter activities, and auroras may be visible on dark, clear nights when geomagnetic conditions allow. December brings a festive atmosphere.
